Ryan Hanger is a New York-based musician attending the Steinhardt School at New York University. He is currently studying for his Master of Music in Vocal Performance with Dr. Justin John Moniz. He is also training in classical piano. He has experience in a wide range of vocal styles, from classic rock, classical, and pop to musical theatre. His other interests include acting, choral singing, and music composing/arranging. He graduated in December of 2021 from Southern Methodist University with his Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance after 5 years of study with Barbara Hill Moore.

In his undergraduate years, he was a five-year semifinalist at the Texoma-Region NATS conference. He was a 1st-place winner for his division in 2021. He has performed in a number of musicals, including the Wolf/Cinderella’s Prince in Into the Woods, Oklahoma as Curly, South Pacific as Lieutenant Cable, Cabaret as Herr Schultz, Annie as FDR, and The Little Mermaid as King Triton. His opera experience includes the title role in Idomeneo, Ezekiel Cheever in The Crucible, and Joe Crowell in Our Town. In addition to his Bachelor of Music, he received a second degree in Business Management.

 

 

UPCOMING WORK

In early April, Ryan will be appearing as Rinuccio in the Steinhardt School at New York University’s mainstage opera, Gianni Schicchi by Giacomo Puccini. Later in the spring, he will be presenting his graduate recital. This summer, he will be appearing as Nero in the Hawaii Performing Arts Festival’s production of L’incoronazione di Poppea by Claudio Monteverdi.
